The oiled finish on the solid wood furniture exudes warmth and perfectly showcases the natural grain of the wood. The best way to clean furniture is to wipe it with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners and scrubbing vigorously, as this can damage the surface. If liquids spill, wipe them up immediately to prevent them from seeping into the wood and scratching the surface. Old furniture can be refurbished using specialized wood oils and care products.
It’s normal for new furniture to have a distinctive odor after being unpacked. But why is that? This certainly has nothing to do with poor quality. Quite the opposite: the odor of new furniture comes from the manufacturing process: paint, adhesives, wood, and leather all release substances needed for production and processing. But this doesn’t mean that Home Affair’s new furniture contains any harmful substances. On the contrary, there’s absolutely no need to worry about health issues. By the way: if you want odorless furniture immediately, choose styles made of hard plastic, metal, or glass, which are completely odorless.
The odor of new furniture is rarely considered neutral or pleasant; most people want to get rid of it as quickly as possible. Normally, the odor of new furniture will dissipate on its own after a few days or weeks, but there are also methods to remove it faster. A practical household trick is, for example, to mix vinegar or lemon juice with water and then apply it to the furniture, allowing the moisture to evaporate the odor. Regular ventilation also helps remove odors. To promote air circulation, you can open cabinet doors… chests of drawers and dressers. Even better: after receiving the furniture, air out each component before assembling it.
